Bad UI for Google Voice Typing feature (one with the large microphone icon)

Is there a way to incorporate Google Voice Typing into HeliBoard through a more convenient interface by replicating, for example, Gboard's approach more closely?

Preferably the keyboard would not disappear when the microphone icon is tapped, like in Gboard. In GBoard, tapping any keyboard key during dictation stops dictation and returns to keyboard input, accepting the tapped character as its first input.

Having to tap the leftward pointing arrow in the upper righthand portion of the "Google Voice Typing" voice input interface (the one with the big microphone) to switch back to keyboard input can become annoying very quickly when there many proper nouns and other special words that have to be tapped in manually on the keyboard.
