Copy paste shortcuts

Previously posted this as a discussion which I realize now was wrong.

The lack of those shortcuts on every keyboard other than Swype (and multiling o technically) has kept me from switching. I'm liking this keyboard a lot. Is there any chance it will get something like that? Swipe from the ?123 key to a, c,x,v to select all / copy /paste? Maybe even undo / redo?

Currently I'm using a tasker shortcut to open a separate floating bar when needed but that's too slow.

Could be done, though that would need to optionally replace the sliding key input thing that currently happens when you swipe from ?123 / ABC / shift to some other key.

I'm not sure if this is the same issue but when I connect a keyboard to my phone then CTRL + V and CTRL + C shortcuts don't work.

Is this only for HeliBoard, or is it independent on which keyboard app is active?

Only HeliBoard. Works fine with Gboard.

Have you also tried OpenBoard or other AOSP keyboard forks? I remember there was some modification to the hardware keyboard code when I added hangul input, maybe that broke something.

OpenBoard and Florisboard works, it seems only HeliBoard doesn't.

I wonder if (optionally) using the 'emoji key' for this makes sense instead of ?123 / ABC / shift keys. That way no functionality will be lost when this feature is activated. The key is also close to z, x, c, v (and not too far from a) as well.
