I don't think it's a bad idea, but this sounds like a pretty gimmicky and hard to properly use element that I think would be better for a UCP
For the P2 piston top you'd need a custom model without glass

Good idea. The sounds should probably vary in each style; I'm thinking a panel moving sound for P2, the apc engine for P1 and one of the many industrial lift...
The problem is how would they be placed in the editor, you can't really have floating items
