WinUI Version [Based on WindowsAppSDK]

Open ghost1372 opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

I plan to continue developing this app by WindowsAppSDK

The reason for this is

  • WinUI 3
  • Better and faster performance
  • More flexible and beautiful user interface
  • Since everyone uses Windows 10 today, there is no need to support Windows 7 and 8 (If needed, we can use uno platform for Release exe for Windows 7)

@tardis4500 @JohnLGalt What do you think about this?

I'll happily use it as a UWP, no problems for me. I use plenty of them already, including Rufus and MusicBrainz' Picard software, and numerous Microsoft software, especially Windows Terminal.

If you can continue to release them through GitHub so the end user can manually update, that would be great, as it would allow us to easily revert to older build to test issues in the future. Continuing to make a portable version would be good, but I realize that that would require a lot of extra development that you may not be able to devote your time to.

Yes, it will definitely take more time. I hope to be able to work on this in the coming days And since the UWP version will not be based on HandyControl, I have decided to transfer the project from HandyOrg organization to my account. Thank you for your long-term support

I didn't realize that you had a personal account lol. I'll find it.

I started developing the UWP version a few days ago and I am very excited about the new UI However, currently the development process has stopped due to lack of coordination of one of the libraries (https://github.com/nucs/JsonSettings) with UWP ecosystem, I'm waiting for the problem to be resolved.

That looks fantastic, so far!

After some effort, I realized that UWP has many limitations (Due to run in the sandbox) And that makes it difficult to develop, sideloading output is also not suitable and you have to sign it and use PowerShell to install it.😫 (Unfortunately I do not have Developer Account for Store) If Unpackaged Desktop Apps Which is planned for Reunion version 1.0 is what I think it would be better to wait for Reunion 1.0 to be able to use WinUI 3 in WPF I hope we can use WinUI in version 5, So until then, I will try to maintain the current development trend
