[Variant] Two-faces
Hi world. This variant would be a deck of card with only cards with two differents values (like r12 or rb2) which can take both value. They react to one color and two numbers OR two colors and one number.
When played they would take both value:
- if both work, they both play
- if one of them work, it play, nothing else happen
- if none of them work, it bomb
Here is one possibility of the composition of the deck: r12, r23, r34, r45, r15, ry1, ry2, ry4 y12, y23, y34, y45, y15, yg1, yg3 g12, g23, g34, g45, g15, gb1, gb2, gb4 b12, b23, b34, b45, b15, bp1, bp3 p12, p23, p34, p45, p15, pt1, pt2, pt4 t12, t23, t34, t45, t15, rt1, rt3
Which leave 45 cards. 30 to play. 16 in starting hand. So starting pace is -1. But you can gain pace by playing cards which can be played twice.
No idea if it's too easy or too hard. But it look a complete mess from everywhere, which look fun. It look hard, but 18cards/45 can be played turn 1.
(Initially there was x12, x13, x14, x24, x35 for each color, but with 45 cards it's way too hard)
At a glance this feels very easy, it will be hard to bottom deck, because you have so many options to have a card that will be playable everywhere. Maybe it will be hard to know which cards are critical though. They might be critical in one color or rank but not in the other one.
You can see the difference in effeciency required between:
- 6 Suits
- Black
- Double dark
- Triple dark
This is the triple dark territory. And double dark is already extremely scary.
There shouldn't be much discard in the game anyway, problem is to tell everyone and fast which card to get.
I'm not sure that's true. You have effectively four 1s, two fives and thee of every other number or color, plus if you have already played one, you can use the other card for something else. You will never have a dry board. On top of that you will play 2 cards for the cost of one sometimes. I guess the limiting factor is your clues, which will never replenish as you don't discard as much. But with a convention that allow you to play a lot, i still believe this will be quite easy.
