3620x2036 DSR

Open Tamashi opened this issue 10 years ago • 13 comments

Hello

With the most recent graphic cards of NVIDEA, they released DSR (Dynamic Resolution), which makes the resolution to what I mentioned in the title, and then scales it back down to your real resolution, for 4K graphics, but it seems that the UI is not scaling correctly when using this feature.

Here is a screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/JDG6WfG.jpg DSR Info: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/geforce-experience-2-1-2-released

Is there any chance you can take a look at this, something with the UI scale or something, to make the frames work together with DSR? As it is now, they're too small to even be read, while the Blizzard UI seems to scale correctly with DSR (as you can see in the HP bar of the mob).

There is an option "force optimal UI scal". - Any chance to also force the optimal UI scale when using DSR?

This doesn't seem very different from supersampling to me other than an added filter. Yay marketing!

What happens when you disable "Force optimal UI scale" and disable / enable Blizzard's own UI scale option?

The UI appears to be scaling correctly, but what it should be doing in this scenario is detecting that your WoW resolution is higher than your native resolution and adjust the scale accordingly. I'm not sure how easy that is to pull off (and I'm not sure how I would test it either given my graphics card doesn't support this to my knowledge).

Well, I disabled Force UI Scale and played around with Blizzard's scale, things seem to get better, but the font / text seems to become unclear/blurry. I guess I'll just keep playing at 2560x1140 (27"). I don't have the technical knowledge to "fix" this. Although, GeForce Experience does recommend the 3620x2036 DSR mode.

Oh well, hopefully it can be implemented in the UI sometime, or an option for it. My graphic card is GIGABYTE GV-N980G1 GAMING-4GD GTX 980 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready SLI Support G-SYNC Support Video Card and my monitor ROG SWIFT PG278Q.

Try enabling it again and see what these scripts give you:

/run print(GetScreenWidth()) /run print(GetScreenHeight())

Also have a look at the resolution dropdown in System-> Graphics. What does it say?

Those scripts only show numbers in the chat, and under Graphic, everything is set to the highest quality, also to the highest resolution(above my normal screen resolution).

If you would like to implement a feature in your UI that would support this new DSR feature, then you can always use my computer for testing purposes through TeamViewer or a similar programs that let you control my computer.

I know that, I actually wanted those numbers. :p I want to see whether the UI considers the width/height of the screen the same as your native or calculated resolution.

When I take screenshots by hotkey, everything looks fine. However, in-game it looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/6zjkNgO.jpg

Looks like it's trying to display a much larger resolution than my native resolution. Do you know any fix for this? The screenshot I just linked is taken by using Gyazo and shows what I see when using it.

Note: It was in windowed mode, but same thing in fullscreen.

What numbers do you get when you run the scripts I posted?

Haleth avatar Oct 25 '14 20:10 Haleth

5120 2880

It seems that it is just trying to display this resolution in my 2560x1440 native resolution, without downscaling it back.

I read that it would only work on 60 to 120 Hz (mine is 144 Hz), but changing to 60/120 did not resolve the issue.

PS: My monitor is this one: http://www.asus.com/Monitors/ROG_SWIFT_PG278Q/ And I have a single GIGABYTE GV-N980G1 GAMING-4GD graphic card.

So does it work properly otherwise? Does the game look better when you enable it? If it doesn't really make a difference I won't bother trying to support it, but otherwise I'll look into it. :)

It seems it's not working at all. I can't say if the graphics are better, because everything looks weird. I would like to get this working, but it seems that the higher resolution is just not being downscaled.

Reading this thread now: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/784109/geforce-experience/dsr-downscaling-issues-/

Well, I just disabled Force UI Scale in FreeUI options again, and try to set my resolution to 5120x2880. That seems to work, but the chat / text gets really weird. Also, the UI seems to be scaling bigger than it would with forcing the optimal UI scale (Health bars, actionbars, map,... (everything pretty much).

I managed to get DSR to work for the game now, but there seem to be some issues with the UI scaling and text/fonts.

Is there any way for you to "fix" the UI scales / text when using DSR? If you want, you can add me to Skype, and you may use my computer to test. Up to you. If you can't be bothered, then I'll stay to the native resolution with DSR disabled.

Skype is x_x_mirte_x_x (Antwerp, Belgium)

Edit: Maybe add an option "force optimal DSR scale", if that's even possible! :P
