Re-organization of the HSF website
After 9 years of HSF, the activities actually done are very different from the initial ideas. We should reflect that in our website and make a major update on layout, content and representation.
This ticket is a placeholder for an eventual focussed discussion on it.
Discussion: Should we enable 'delete merged branches'? I have that on in all repositories and don't really see any downside.
I would love to solve this issue, so assign me
Discussion: How should we deal with the amount of spellcheck failures in old documents (see here). Every time codespell (part of pre-commit) gets updated, there's more and nobody wants to be responsible for fixing them (and the amount of ignore-listed documents is also starting to look ridiculous by now)
i would like to contribute here :)
hello is it still available, would love to contribute in this.
Is this issue still available, I would love to contribute
Linking #1481 which would simplify our PR workflows
I have removed the help wanted label, as this advertises this issue for help from outside the organization (and this issue probably isn't the best fit for that)
I had a play with converting the website to run with Hugo or to update the Jekyll theme (currently the very basic minima)
- Automatic conversion was not a great success - it really just moves the "posts" into the Hugo
contentfolder - Yes, it's completely possible to do this, but I think it's a week's work to get everything looking good
- Volunteers...? Anyone have a student who is good with websites?
I would like to work on this. Can more details be provided?
I too would be help out, especially as it relates to exploring options (e.g. Hugo, but maybe others)
I would love to help out with the issue, can more details be provided along with the role ?
I too would like to work on this. Please share more details on this.
I think this is as done as it is going to get... We clearly lack the human power needed to convert the website to a new technology base and, actually, it's working ok at the moment. Also, the sections that needed reorganised (projects, SG, AG) all have been done.
So for now we close this one.
