Leverage USB for Ipad
Hello,
I tried Weylus with a Manjaro/Matebook X Pro in combination with a recent Ipad over Wifi. Everything works as expected, and I am really surprised by the performance and usability. Together with Xournal++, this really opens door to great applications, which I never could think of one year ago.
Howeve, clearly WiFi (hosted by the university) is a bottleneck to a certain extent, which makes me curious whether I could use USB-C instead of WiFi? Unfortunately, the Ipad has no cellular functionality, so it seems to me that i cannot create a WiFi hotspot (I am not an Ipad expert, I borrowed this one).
Has anyone experience in using USB?
Thanks a lot!
Considering I just found this, doing some research myself: https://github.com/libimobiledevice/libusbmuxd/issues/99 perhaps @gabrc52 found a solution?
If this can be done, it will be a game changer for iPad as an external screen. Regardless, H-M-H, thank you very much. Weylus is a great favour for all us Linux users!
It must be possible because Duet works over USB on the iPad
Does Duet require installing an app on the iPad?

Oh you know what I didn't consider that. Yes it does.
You are able to use iOS devices over Ethernet using a Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter and a standard Ethernet USB dongle, I use Weylus like this.
Nice! How's the latency?
It's great! Input-wise, one thing that struck me as super cool was how responsive Firefox was to touch events from Weylus; it felt like my tablet was directly connected to the screen. Display output was a little stuttery, going to experiment with some different resolutions.
