sniffnet disable update checking

Hey @anpic this is an interesting request

May I know why are you interested in this? Sniffnet doesn't display pop-ups but just a small status icon in the footer in case of new versions available, for this reason I've always considered this to be a non-intrusive feature.

any update check is usually an optional thing and it should be possible to disable it

Thanks for the feedback. I already had in mind to introduce a sort of pop-up with a "don't show again" checkbox in the future. I'll probably address this request at that point.

I would still really like to avoid unnecessary network connections and not just lack of visibility :wink:

Yep, I got it.

The workflow would be:

by default, check updates and display a pop-up if a newer version is available
if something like "don't warn me again for this version" is selected, there will only be the icon in the footer with no more pop-ups for that specific version
if something like "don't ever show this again" is selected, then there is no point in in checking new updates at all
