where is the gem.log for a tODE client session?

I'm getting an error trying to create a session:

tode 1 > ls
Topez ERROR: Error: Unable to create a session, check netldi and gem log files.
 For further information about login failures, check the gem log file

but don't know where to look for the gem log file. It does not appear log directory for the stone
