Use ${workspaceRoot}/journal, "Nothing found" in Journal explorer pane

Seeing "Nothing found" in the Journal explorer pane when I use workspaceRoot for the base value:

${workspaceRoot}/journal

Is there a workaround or better way? Would like to keep journals in my repository and use the Journal View.
