Trip AOO bugs

  1. AOO optional I see in here AOO counter attack will always occur. But it should not be always.

Does special attack (Trip, Disarm or Grapple) versus opponent with "no AOO" state (Flat Footed or Total Defense) still triggers AOO?

If someone does not threaten, as in they get no AoO, the rule is pretty simple: they get no attacks of opportunity no matter how they would be provoked otherwise.

Essentially counter AOO with Trip should not be possible if target is "non threatening", meaning for example Flat-Footed or in Total Defense, or other conditions which specifically prevent AOO possibility.

  1. AOO sequence AOO should occur before touch attack. ~~You are trying to touch, if hit while AOO then no try at all.~~ It does not matter if you hit or not. Currently AOO occurs if Trip touch check was successful.

Update; Hitting during AOO should not stop the Trip.

Tripping doesn't seem to have the text about the AoO stopping the attempt like grapple and disarm do. It just says you take an AoO because it counts as an unarmed attack (unless you're using a weapon to trip, presumably).

@dolio, I asked on D&D 3.5 forums as well, see link.

Update: I was too hasty, let me check on the forums about stopping.

You were right @dolio, thank you! Indeed, successful hit during AOO should not break Trip. Updated this post.

But base changes are still needed.
