Hitconfirm for personal spells with AoE
Change spells with personal target mode + AoE to require 2nd click, display AoE
@dolio I looked at the picker code, and by itself it should already behave like that more or less (except you do have to mouse your character). However it looks like this is bypassed here: https://github.com/GrognardsFromHell/TemplePlus/blob/master/TemplePlus/d20.cpp#L1480
In other words, it kind of looks like this was the initial implementation and somebody purposely short circuited it. My hunch is that the goal was to streamline combat (less clicking since you don't select the target anyway). Now, I'm inclined to overturn it, since I think isn't used that often anyway so it won't get in the way of the click-click-click types, but I could be wrong. Also there could be differences between Co8 and vanilla ToEE here, I think Bless might be the main one. Let me know what you think.
Interesting. You mean the original ToEE code worked that way, too?
I can only think of one subtlety off the top of my head. The reason it's important to visualize for Bless and Obscuring Mist are that their exact areas of effect when casting matter. Obscuring Mist is stationary, and Bless affects exactly the people in range when it's cast.
However, there might be other personal-radius target spells where it doesn't matter, because the effect moves with you. I'm not sure if any spells are like that, but in that case, it might be a minor annoyance with no upside (for that particular spell). I'd much rather deal with that than not see the areas for the spells where it matters.
The one example I could come up with for a mobile effect is Globe of Invulnerability. But it's actually not supposed to be mobile, so it wouldn't be a real example under strict rules. :)
