Shapeless recipes for all wire crafting etc.

I don't know if this has already been sad but it is such a huge pain in the a** to figure out the correct location in the crafting grid when I just want to craft like an iron rod for example. Why not just make it a shapeless recipe? Is there any issue I am not seeing right now?
