Overview
We intend to utilize a pre-existing research paper available at the link https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S136403211500708X and a project hosted on GitHub, specifically designed to quantify the energy consumption of different programming languages. The GitHub repository can be found at https://github.com/greensoftwarelab/Energy-Languages.
The objective is to evaluate the carbon emissions generated by various programming languages when executing the same functional requirement or algorithm within an identical hardware environment.

Hi - typically a permissive open source license allows you to copy and modify code without requiring specific approval. It is still courteous to cite them where possible, in my opinion, but you are not obliged.
