Necessity to add the integrations plugin for Slack notifications to work

Open jurajpaulo opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

The requirement to install the integrations plugin to graylog is not mentioned in the Alert section of the docs

Context

Get instructions to have Slack Notifications working. The "Slack Notification" option is missing in notification type select box after tarball installation of graylog. The Alert -> Slack Notifications section of the docs doesn't mention what needs to be done.

Expected Content

This is what I was advised by the graylog support team, but the documentation doesn't contain the information: If you’re running opensource, you’ll need graylog-integrations-plugins installed along with the main OS package. You can find the tar’d up files for the integrations here: https://downloads.graylog.org/releases/graylog-integrations/graylog-integrations-plugins-4.0.1.tgz

Your Environment

macOS High Sierra version 10.13.3 (17D102)

  • Graylog Version: v4.0.1+6a0cc0b
  • Elasticsearch Version:
  • MongoDB Version:
  • Operating System:
  • Browser version:

I also ran into this issue with a graylog docker installation. I think the plugin should be included as default maybe. Here is the corresponding forum post: https://community.graylog.org/t/graylog-4-0-cant-add-slack-notification/17925/5 @asachs01

Thank you in advance :)

@kaiomatico if you'd like the plugins included automatically, I think opening an issue on Graylog2/graylog-docker would appropriate, as the issue here pertains specifically to the documentation and ensuring that our documentation instructions are clear.
