Network Connectivity and SSL Issues After Android 16 QPR2 Update
Device: Google Pixel 9 Pro XL
Operating System: GrapheneOS
Android Version: 16 QPR2
Build Number: 2025121201
Description:
After installing the Android 16 QPR2 update (build 2025121201), multiple user profiles — including the owner profile, secondary users, and Private Space — experience recurring network connectivity issues. These include unreliable or entirely broken internet access and errors related to SSL/TLS certificate validation.
Observed Behavior:
- Apps fail to load content due to network errors.
- Frequent SSL certificate validation errors (e.g., “wrong SSL certificate”).
- Messages such as “Your internet connection may be unstable” appear.
- The issue is persistent across both Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- The same behavior propagates across user profiles and affects all apps using network access.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
- Switched networks (Wi-Fi/mobile).
- Restarted device and network services.
- Tested across different user profiles and Private Space.
- Verified system time and certificate trust store.
Impact:
This issue significantly degrades usability and breaks network functionality for critical apps. It may affect both user experience and application security. The issue appears to be tied to the recent QPR2 system update.
Request:
Please investigate the cause of this connectivity failure and advise on possible mitigation steps or workarounds. Assistance in resolving the profile-wide network behavior would be appreciated.
We haven't had any other reports of this so it's likely connected to the VPN you use.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL as well. I am having similar issues. Tons of network issues since the latest update.
No VPN in use. However when trying to use a VPN now as well nothing happens and the VPN does not properly work anymore either. It states it connected there are packets sent and received for the start of the connection then nothing goes through. Its very possible this is not related however I wanted to bring it up incase it is.
This is causing issues with the Huntington app for me specifically their zelle sending function which gives me a network error despite the other functions being normal. Even trying to place orders on something like the McDonalds app results in pressing the button and waiting upwards of 3 minutes for the network request to fully go through. It is inconsistent on what it appears to be affecting in my case. I have had no issues prior like this on the stock google OS or the previous two versions with any of the apps in question. The occurs on all my profiles.
Multiple networks including data have been tested with the same results. The issues do not occur on my tablet/another phone on the same network it is only the device with grapheneOS. I'm not sure if its possibly something related to this model as that seems to currently line up in both our cases.
