Android 16 QPR2 introduced a new option to enable Fingerprint Unlock while the screen is off.

This option is not there on my Pixel 9a using 2025121201 but it shows up in the search results of the settings app.

Workaround: I was able to enable it using adb and it works great!

adb shell settings put secure screen_off_udfps_enabled 1

From your androidauthority link:

Users on Reddit report that the option is reappearing in Fingerprint settings, though most confirmations are from Pixel 9 and newer devices, with the Pixel 9a notably absent.

It works in GOS with P9. (2FA makes it a bit less convenient)

Interesting. I found another article by androidpolice.com:

Google initially rolled out screen-off fingerprint unlock for the Pixel 9 before expanding to older Pixels as well. But then, it removed the option altogether in Android 16's final build. For now, only Pixel 9 users, including Pixel 9a users, report seeing the option. I don't see the toggle on my Pixel 8 Pro either.

Even if the Stock OS does not show this option on Pixel 9a, I think GOS should, because the feature works.
