Backup menu changed/broken after crashed backup

I was trying to backup my system through the inbuilt option. This failed repeatedly, possibly because of low disk space. The last time it failed the process froze and the menu was unavailable. I.rebooted and now the menu looks different. Gone are the option to select where to put the backup or what to include. I think it may look more than the default android menu now. Which is strange: it looks as if it is backing up my data somewhere on known?
