Feature Request: File metadata (colors)

Open DiagonalArg opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Back in my iphone days, I used a Documents program, basically a file manager that allowed color coding of files. It made it much easier to handle a library (in my case, of books). Perhaps adding that functionality, or even just the capacity to "star" certain files, might be considered.

I very much appreciate the GOS project. Thank you!

Can you explain what you mean in more detail?

Alright. Take my linux laptop, Gnome. I am able to "star" files that perhaps are in process, making them easy to find. That is, in nautilus (the files GUI), I can see a column with an outline of a star, which when I click on it turns yellow.

The process of finding files "in process" on a phone is rather harder. I dug out my old iPhone and there is a program just called "Documents". It's a file manager which, when a file name is long-pressed, brings up a menu that includes "highlight". Selecting that offers the opportunity to pick one of half a dozen colors. Then, in the file listing, the name of the file appears with that background color.
