Hotspot fail to automatically close sometimes

This happens sometimes (20% chance maybe). I use my Pixel as hotspot daily. To reproduce:

  1. Turn on turn off hotspot automatically. Then turn hotspot on.
  2. Connect my PC to the hotspot and then leave office with my phone. I'm very sure my PC cannot connect to the hotspot with that distance.
  3. After finishing my launch and exercising I find hotspot still on (1 hr after leaving my office). In Quick Settings it says 1 device connected but I'm sure there's no device connected. There's also no device displayed when I long-press Quick Settings to enter the hotspot Settings page.
  4. There's no error log.
