[Problem] YouTube search doesn't work

Open IlyaAstafev opened this issue 2 years ago • 15 comments

Can't find any video from YouTube on 3.13 and earlier versions. It's just blank screen with only search bar being present.

My guess is that Google did some wacky shit again so pls check this. Thank you

I do hope that it's only a bugged search and not playback itself...

For me it says: Can't connect to server.

Same as issue #41 change your invidious instance to solve the problem.

Same as issue #41 change your invidious instance to solve the problem.

Am I supposed to just add them by separating with "space" or should I add them each in new line? Cause I can't do the latter in the app. Is there a cfg file? Where can I find it?

You only need to add one instance. Go to yortube ---> settings ---> search ---->invidious instance and write something like https://yt.artemislena.eu/

Thx, I'll try later today

Thanks for your comment. I changed the invidious instance to the link you mentioned. Unfortunately it still doesn't work. I get: Could not connect to the server or device. (C1-27458).

I'll read more into it and report if I found something useful.

Edit: From post issue #41 where a list of several invidious instances are listed I tried https://yt.floss.media/ and it works.

I still need to read deeper into this topic. I believe this App has a lot potential and can bring the PS Vita to a new level.

Edit 2: After going back to the main menu of the app and open Youtube search again it stops to work. I checked the invidious instance and it's still there. Kinda weird.

Edit 3: I switched to https://inv.makerlab.tech/ and it works again. Might it be that the issue is a timing error? I mean that the app doesn't give it enough time to connect to the server and gives a false timeout. Just a thought. One it runs, it's quite fast with opening videos, jump to another position within the video.

Btw; With the left and right shoulder button you can jump forward or backward. One press is 1 second.

Yeah, I switched to makerlab as well and it works fine.

So it's probably just a default mirror being depricated that's causing an issue.

I suppose there is no real reason for it to be open at this point, but I hope developer will update the app with adding a new mirror (and a way to add "reserve" mirror/s)

Yeah, sorry, had to reopen the issue since changing an instance doesnt work anymore

Updating invidious instance in the app every time YouTube decides they need more ad money is not very practical. The best I can do is adding a warning for the user to check invidious instance first when YouTube functions don't work.

Could you allow users to input more than one instance URL and have the app try each instance until it finds one that works? It would be much faster to input every instance on the Invidious instances master list and have the app try them in order than to manually try each instance one at a time.

EDIT: I got mine working with https://invidious.io.lol, but I had to exit the YouTube section and re-enter it as per this comment. Maybe change the name for the setting "Invidious Instance" to "Invidious Instance (App Restart Required)" or similar?

While I agree that adding ability to use multiple instance links will simplify things for the user it's certainly not the best solution. Imagine a situation where user adds 10 instances and the first 9 of them don't reply resulting in communication timeout in 2 seconds. That means that user will have to wait 18 seconds for the app to rotate through all 9 unresponsive instances until it reaches the working one.

Unfortunately if seems that Invidious simply doesn't work in NetStream anymore. Could it be that they changed something on their end?
