Analyze this tab - UX issue
I am on Brave, I have 20+ tabs open
Chrome version and test PSAT Version 120.0.0.0 (arm64)
OS - System architecture: MacOS (arm64)
Situation of use
When I click the PSAT tool it says: "This tool works best with a single tab for cookie analysis." and offers a blue button-like text 'Analyze this tab' which is more likely to be a button if you hoover over it
Remark 1:
I.m.o. there are too many assumption in this very first step. I.m.o. it's not intuitive for a first user. Firstly "This tool works best with a single tab for cookie analysis." assumes a user knows what a tab is and that he/she ws what he's doing with the tool; 'cookie analysis'. Secondly I am not interested in where it works best, why should I care?
Remark 2:
This intermediate pop-up recurs every new tab I go to and click on the PSAT tool in the bar. But I know already that "This tool works best with a single tab for cookie analysis." and don't want to hit this button again.
Remark 3:
After research I discovered there's a strong relationship with the left tab in the options display of PSAT. How would a user know?
Don't make me think?!
Is this extra click on the blue button called 'Analyze this tab' really necessary and can't the performance issue (with too many tabs open) be addressed differently?
Thanks for the thoughtful feedback @henkvancann. Your assessment is spot on and we are addressing this by changing the way the extension handles the issue of analyzing multiple tabs. For the user this should be seamless and the extension should behave correctly and efficiently without user intervention.
