i wonder if we can use the CE https://codepen.io/samthor/pen/WJvLxd for this? keep it hidden, update it, and use it for undo? might be a clever partial impl we can put in temporarily? @samthor

It's got challenges on e.g. Edge but you don't care about that. :)
