Feature Req: track Jump Clones as Assets
https://esi.tech.ccp.is/latest/characters/
.. will provide you with a list of jump clones that char has. it would be awesome to be able to search thru them over all the chars/accounts just like other assets.
this should be fairly easy to implement and would help a lot for avoiding lost clones from destroyed/taken down citadels...
thanks
It’s not a bad idea, but, I try to keep jEveAssets features related to assets (yes, few other things have slipped in throughout the years). I do not want to try to do everything and end up being bloatware. My strategy have always been to try to make the best assets manager. I have a very long backlog of features directly related to assets. So, I will have to decline your suggestion. By focusing on one area (asset management) I’m able to do above average in that area. I hope you can agree with that logic.
i half agree; half because, i do consider jump clones "assets", and they work pretty much the same way as normal assets (have a location; are containers for other things (implants), etc..)
and the other way round - if i wanted to look up what kinda stuff i have in a particular facility, NOT getting info about jump clones means not getting all the info that i possibly could.
but ofc i respect your decision. thanks for an awesome tool nonetheless :)
I feel like jump clones are a much better fit for software like EveMon that already deals with character sheets and skill. That feels more logical to me, as those tools already shows data like when the next clone jump is available etc. I won't show that data in jEveAssets, as it would require getting even more data not related to assets.
Of course there isn't always a definitive answer to what is asset related and what is not, there is gray areas too. But, I have to take into consideration that I have a huge backlog of stuff I want to do, so, even if I didn't decline this issue, It may never get done anyway, because, there is other feature with direct relation to assets that will take priority. So, I think it's better to just decline the feature instead and let you find another tool with that feature or request it for a tool where it would fit in better.
Requesting that this be reopened per conversation in discord. Among other reasons, tracking jump clones as assets would allow users to identify all that they can move from a station, in times where that is relevant.
Possibly related to #283, though I think that having these show up in assets would better address my example use case.
Will take a look at this and #124
