Golden Cheetah Screenreader Accessibility
Hi All,
I'm a blind para-cyclist and I've been looking at accessible ways to access training data. While discussing building something that would work for me, a friend pointed me at Golden Cheetah.
Upon downloading, I find that I can't get any spoken feedback from the software.I understand that it's written in QT4, which does (apparently) follow the IAccessible API.
In order to make items accessible, this generally requires the use of keyboard navigation, and that accessibleName and accessibleDescription are in the controls.
I use NVDA, an open-source screen reader: http://nvacess.org/
I'm more than happy to help with testing, etc. I'm a developer myself, though I mostly work with Perl, and have no experience with QT.

Hi Andrew,
Firstly, thank you for the heads up, it is not something I had considered. So secondly, my apologies for this shortcoming. I will take a look at this over the next week and see if this can be rectified with the 3.2 release.
I would be hugely grateful if you could help test once we have something to look at.
Are you able to build from source ?

Hi Mark,
I'm more than happy to test this out. In theory I should be able to build from source, however I've yet to get this to actually complie. I'll step back through the readme again when I have the chance.

Its not the end of the world. I can probably knock together a build, are you on Windows, Mac or Linux ?
Mark, Andrew - I can supply intermediate Windows Builds if needed. Just let me know.
Andrew - I can provide you with a build guide for Windows - using pre-compiled QT incl. MingGW - which makes it a bit more convenient to build. (Biggest issue building on Windows are the extra libraries which GoldenCheetah needs for some features). Let us know which way you prefer.
