everything plays on System Chanel

Open redxon opened this issue 2 years ago • 5 comments

Hi

So from what I've seen I'm not sure if this is a known limitation or if I did something wrong but when I install and run the script I can choose which is the default channel, which is system. But no matter which Channel I set as the output or in an app like for example discord or whatever, everything plays in the system Channel, nothing plays in music, chat or whatever.

Is this known or did I do something wrong?

System is Ubuntu 22.04

This isn't something that's been specifically reported at this point by anyone else, can you let me know what kernel you're running, as well as how you're determining everything being pushed through system? I'm not entirely sure if this is a script error, or a distro error.

Hi

So my OS is Ubuntu 22.04 with Kernel 5.17. I use a goxlr-mini

I ran the script (before I did I had no audio output) and after that the devices showed up, namely System, Chat, Music, Game, Sample... I set the System as the main output in the script, and the chat mic as the main input in the script.

Now when I change System output to system I can hear sound and see the gain indicator on the goxlr-mini active as sound comes through. The fader for that also works so I can adjust the volume for system. Also the mic works, so I can hear and talk for example in discord just fine.

Now when I set the system audio, or the audio in discord or in any other app to another output channel than system, for example I set the discord audio to chat I still see the gain indicator on the system channel on the go-xlr itself moving. In addition the fader for the chat channel does nothing to adjust the volume, but I can still control the volume that comes through discord (if it is set to output on the chat channel) with the system fader.

I normally use the device with windows so it was set up with windows where I have initialized it and set the routing to what I prefer, so in windows the faders and indicators work as they should. The device did not lose power before booting with Ubuntu.

Thank you!

Thanks for the info.

As a test, can you change the default output in gnome to a different channel (for example, Chat) and see if the audio correctly moves channel?

It doesn't matter where I change it, in a specific app or system wide in the system settings. There is no output on the go XLR other than on the system channel.

Even removed and rerun the script, restarted etc. Did all that and still it doesn't work.

Can you please make sure, that the card profile is set from image to Screenshot from 2022-06-17 22-36-06 @FrostyCoolSlug I've noticed the two profiles and we need to investigate what's behind it. They are not the same.
