We need to ensure that the documentation is clear and logically structured. Additionally, all text should follow British English lower-case style conventions.

Tasks:

• [ ] Review the documentation for logical consistency.
• [ ] Ensure compliance with British English lower-case style.
• [ ] Update api.md and index.md accordingly.
• [ ] Define and document the style rules in STYLE.md (or an equivalent file) so we can align on a shared standard.
