to reproduce, go to vscode.dev, install gitlive. Then on github, connect gitlive. Go back to gitlive, then open a repository. Try to sign in, and it gives errors.

Hi @Adithr123! We're pleased to know that our users are wanting to use GitLive with web based IDEs! Unfortunately this is a feature we're still working on with the help from the VSCode team but it's not production ready. We'll be sure to reach out to you as soon as we've got GitLive working on vscode.dev and other VSCode web IDEs, it's in our pipeline!

Ok thanks!

GitLive has worked pretty well for my web IDE running on code-server, but I've recently started getting this error:

@Steakeye any updates on official support for VSCode on the web?

Hi @micahlt

We had to pause development on the VSCode Web stuff while the team at VSCode completed an important refactor that would allow us to continue delivering our feature. The good news is that the team at VSCode has been busy working on that dependency and we're ready to resume work on VSCode Web support this week! We'll keep you updated when we release the first version officially for Web.

Regarding your error, by the looks of it you're getting this error when trying to code share with a teammate, is that correct? In order to look into this further, would you be able to send as much diagnostic info as possible? The following list would be useful:

  • Version of code-server being used
  • Version of VSCode being used
  • Version of GitLive being used
  • OS and version of your client
  • Browser and browser version

Once I have that information I can more easily search for your error in our logs and investigate your issue further 👍🏽

Awesome, glad to hear that! That is correct - the error only occurs when my code is actively being shared with a teammate. I'm using:

  • code-server 4.2.0
  • VSCode 1.64.2
  • GitLive 15.0.5
  • Windows 11 Pro (21H2 Update)
  • Chrome 100.0.4896.60

Thank you for your assistance! I love what GitLive is doing - you guys are awesome!

Thanks @micahlt, that's really nice to hear!

We've found your particular bug and are looking into it. Once we've figured out the issue it'll go into an upcoming patch release 🙂

Hi @micahlt,

Just wanted to give you an update. We're aware of an issue in VSCode that we need to work around with regards to code collaboration; there should be some improvements in the latest version of GitLive but further work on this feature is in our backlog.

No problem at all! That's perfectly fine - thank you for looking into the issue!
