Ult64ii+L Dolphin Dos

Open xeno111 opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

I’m new to all so apologise if I’m being stupid. I have an Ultimate64ii+L and I’m trying to get Dolphin Dos ROMs loaded for the c64 and 1541. I think there must be something basic I’m not doing as I know the c64 kernel is loaded as the function keys are working for dir f7, load f5 etc are all working and I can mount a a .d64 image and load files however they are loading at normal speed? im running 3.10j with c64 kernel -20-3.Ron and 1541 kernel c1541-20-6.rom, any help would be appreciated and help me to enjoy my c64 once more to its full potential 👍

u2+L have parallel cable support? If not it will not work

You either own an U64 OR an U2+(L). With the first it is possible to enable parallel port support, with the later it isn't! It would be fine to close this issue, as it isn't a bug at all. ;)

@GideonZ it's a question, not an issue, can be closed. :)

@xeno111 as it was said, it is not possible to use parallel cable fastloaders like Dolphin or Speed DOS - that's U64 exclusive. Only fastload cartridges (.crt) or Jiffy DOS (kernal+drive ROM) will speed up disk transfers on a U2+L.

Oh well, Gideon and I discussed that already. It's a missing feature. In general it is possible to use patched (not original!) parallel speeders even with the U2+(L). But it is not implemented yet.

Can we leave this open as a reminder for that feature request?

It might be helpful then to rename the issue to something like "Feature Request: U2+ Support for modded DolphinDOS".

(Interesting for sure but the target users might be rare. The "Cartridge User" are happy with their preferred cartridges and JiffyDOS is fast enough for the usual needs. Don't know about the effort but time could be spent on other things or issues...)
