Allow to specify a gallery image as the featured image for a post

Currently this seem to require adding the image separately and using html hacks from preventing it being displayed redundantly in the post.

I'm afraid there is no such plan for this functionality.

I'd really like to be able to add "Posts" to a gallery. The featured image would be shown in the gallery and then when clicked it would take you to the post.

That's probably not a core function so is best done at the theme level. At present, I suspect that could be added to the 'advanced Lightbox settings' inside a specific theme. So by modifying the theme you're using, you could probably add the option to include a link for one or more images in a gallery.

Having said that, there is a big update coming soon, so perhaps a different approach could be easier. Maybe check further at: https://forum.getpublii.com
