Printer Selection Ideas
Should we make the printers work like in real life? Or no? Should we have the option of deleting printers from the computer using a printer app?
How would the scanner work? Place a book in it and it imports the text of the book into text editor?
It would be able to scan pages people have sent. And you can copy books and papers.

Scanners and copiers would be awesome, I think if this ends up on any large server then you would probably want the ability to keep printers local. Otherwise you look for printers and 50 show up, players are printing random things on other players printers to waste paper and ink, ETC.

The printers are back on rescan. Then we need to store "known printers" in laptop (do we need it?)
Otherwise you look for printers and 50 show up, players are printing random things on other players printers to waste paper and ink, ETC.
At time no ownership is implemented in laptops. Maybe we need an "reserve/lock" button in laptops and in printer that allow the usage by the owner only
Just for reference, an disabled printer is not shown in scan. So players can poweroff printer after usage. This helps to save the environment too ;-)
That is fair on printers being turned off, although local network printers or usb printers would be cool. A lock screen that requires logging in would be a cool addition for computer security.
For security we need something compatible to most area-security mods (using minetest.is_protected(pos, playername)) but it should be on other issue.
Wired printers maybe should be done using digilines. But I do not use digilines.
I have some experience, if we did that then it would be more of a network printer, usb style would be out of the question.

Hand delivered would work. From an rpg standpoint you could also "find" pages in dungeons that you may want to digitize.
@Grizzly-Adam have you started working on some better eye-candy for the printer?
I have not. Been busy with the monochrome stuff and some updates to my BBQ mod at request of users.
When I finish with the monochroming, I will look at the printers. After that I am probably going to take a break from this mod to work on another original "Your Dad's" mod. I am deciding between doing the backyard movie night, garage, or booze & smokes mod next.
