scrcpy

                                    scrcpy copied to clipboard

                        Shift Blocks Space
I am often typing fast and I guess when I use shift to capitalize letters, it sometimes isn't fully released when I hit space. Often resulting in words being mashed together. Anyway... shift+space should ideally still be a space.
Currently using scrcpy 1.24 on two Windows 11 machines to access my Pixel 7 Pro.
Thanks!
Shift and space are injected to the device, the device decides how to react.
On my device, Shift+space produces a space.
Interesting!!! So it must have something to do with the way it is injected? At first, I thought... "I've been using scrcpy for so long, how am I just noticing this?" But with what you said, that makes sense... I just got my Pixel 7 Pro. Maybe it was normal on my Pixel 6 Pro and phones before that.
But also before I reported it, I tried Vysor (I know, it's not the same and there is a reason I use scrcpy and not Vysor) and shift+space works with that.
So it is something about scrcpy and the Pixel 7 Pro (presumably not my specific Pixel 7 Pro)... hmmm!
Just to follow up... I tested with a Pixel 6 (non Pro), Samsung Galaxy S22, and OnePlus 7 Pro in addition to my Pixel 7 Pro. Some of them on two computers, but some on just one. But both Windows 11.
All PC and Phone combinations have the same issue of shift blocking space for me.
In all apps?
With which virtual keyboard enabled?
Oh! Great question! I had not thought about different keyboards since I wasn't really using them (using my physical PC keyboard, of course). But obviously that is a factor...
All apps? Yes
Which keyboard? GBoard! I only ever use Google's GBoard, so I never thought to try another, but I just tested the keyboard built into the old Tenor GIF app and also installed Swiftkey as a test... the issue is not present there.
So only in GBoard, I guess? I am not super overly interested in switching keyboards, but at least that helps narrow things down a bit.
Something specific to Scrcpy and Gboard....
