storage conditions (fresh/frozen/other)
Storage conditions specifically calls out DNA in the definition. "Explain how and for how long the soil sample was stored before DNA extraction (fresh/frozen/other)."
NMDC would like to use this term, but it won't be "before DNA extraction" it will just be in general how the sample was store & if this varies fro analytes / data streams it will be captured in process metadata. Does this matter? Can the DNA extraction part be dropped?
Also note, the definition for this term is "Explain how and for how long the soil sample was stored before DNA extraction (fresh/frozen/other)" in soil and ag. But there's also samp_store_dur which is "Duration for which the sample was stored" no mention of DNA. Clear definition of sample vs DNA across packages
This term could be broadened to apply to any sample, not just soil. If we remove DNA from the definition (which makes it clear that this is the original environmental or organismal sample, not the DNA extract), we need to first solve issue #303.
