Issue: GRDI "Chicken meat" term
request
- Chicken meat (two terms) - ...chicken meat has the code FOODON:00001040, which has no definition in OLS or in the enterics term guide. FOODON:00004239 is the term used in the GRDI spec, which in that term guide is defined as "Meat from a chicken", but in OLS it's listed with term name "piece(s) of chicken meat (raw)", with the definition "One or more raw pieces of chicken meat."
- we're hoping for some guidance for working through these two terms. Our preference would be FOODON:00001040, but without the definition in OLS we're a bit weary to make one up.
- higher prior - this one is going into the PNC spec
comment
- [x] FoodOn Issue request made to add a definition to FOODON:00001040 "chicken meat food product" https://github.com/FoodOntology/foodon/issues/328
- [x] Immediate solution: determine the definition with FoodOn so it can be added to the enterics term guide without waiting for OLS release.
- [ ] @cmrn-rhi thinks the use of the "FOODON:00004239" was a mistake and that the curator probably intended to use "FOODON:00001040" based on the reference guide label, subclasses (which are all under FOODON:00001040), and definition; proposes an ID correction is likely necessary.
Definition for FOODON:00001040 Now in foodon draft and will be released later today.
Discussed in oc/or 2025-07-24: discussed with requestee. "chicken meat food product" is a good option because they would like a generic term option that could mean any chicken meat, from chicken breast to a processed chicken nugget. Then they apply the characteristics in another field (e.g. raw, ground, deboned, etc.) which is ideal! That being said we still need to resolve the implementation of the term in the GRDI term FOODON:00004239 so that the label, ID, and subclasses are in harmony.
