Running on RPi 4 but...
It almost works but videos not, and the flash between each image is really slow, showing the whole Raspbien desktop. Then launching it a second time doesn't seem to do anything. I had the install 'manually' as the image doesn't boot on RPi4 but that was ok. I actually thought it would work with X... I guess I'm a dreamer ;-) Also where would be the support area for the project? Seems pretty quiet around here. Thank you.
This is probably the best for support...I was following it via Youtube but it's gotten to the point where i need to organize more and follow issues up here. I'm also working on rewriting it (adding transitions, random, 'all', stuff like that. It was really a bit of a scrappy attempt, but it's popular enough a real verison is needed.
Please insure omxplayer and feh are both manually installed, and set the desktop wallpaper to black and hide the task bar. The way this version works is it launches feh, then kills it, so whatever the desktop is will show. I have to get a pi4 to repro and understand how it behaves there, but in the meantime I'm trying to avoid using feh entirely and write it in pure python (except for video playback, that'll always be omxplayer due to needing hw acceleration). I'll try to be more active on it while I work on v2
Please see the updated Dynaframe3 project. I think you're REALLY going to like that one compared to this. Crossfades, persistent settings, rotation from the webui, customizable fades, super simple install......total rewrite, and still a WIP, but already leagues ahead of this project. It's missing MQTT, and it's .net vs. python, but I think it's the way forward for this project honestly (So much so I may archive this one...or just leave it for others to learn from / use that prefer the python approach)
Thanks a lot for the update. I'm going to try that right away with a Pi 3 this time, and will report back on the dynaframe3 issue thread then. Thanks again.
