Bugs, usability issues and idea

Thank you for submitting an issue for Link Map. To help us better understand your feedback, please fill out the following template(If you think it's too complicated, just write down whatever you want):

Description

  1. Switching to a tab through the chrome browser does not autoscroll to the selected tab Link Map. Opening a new tab does lead to Link Map autoscrolling to the selected tab. Tabs Outline does feature this correctly.
  2. I've noticed that Link Map refuses to open certain tabs when double-clicked on through the Link Map window. Reloading the tab fixed the issue. I've only encountered this with a small number of tabs when I initially launched Link Map with a large number of chrome tabs already open. I will update you if I encounter the issue once more.
  3. The UI (orange arrow) for repositioning tabs through Link Map is very poor when compared to Tabs Outliner.
  4. Opening a new tab under a selected tab is not possible. In Tabs Outliner clicking on the new tab icon in chrome leads to the tab opening as a child tab to the selected tab. In Link Map a new tab opens as separate tab and must be dragged appropriately to act as child tab for ever desired new child tab. I suggest icons next to the collapse and expand icons for opening a seperate new tab, for opening a child tab, and for opening a sibling tab.
  5. Locate Active Tab Node does not function as expected. If I wish to locate the selected desired open tab in a window, clicking on this button does not locate the tab but locates another open tab in the background.
  6. I would be interested in an option for the plugin to load as a sidebar within the browser window. I know that is not supported in chrome, however I am not sure if that also applies to Microsoft Edge. I have also seen the chrome extension "Forest: Tree Style Tabs" work within the browser however I could not scroll through the tabs list and it was very slow.

I wish to thank you for your good work.

Hi @krosola, thanks for your feedback.

  1. Not autoscroll when switching tabs: I will make this configurable in next version like TO. Because sometimes It's annoying when you have a huge collection in tree, and just want to cast a glance of some tabs, autoscroll will distract attension. I think you know what I mean. It wouldn't take a long time to see this feature.
  2. Not response correctly when double-clicking: this probably a bug, thanks for report that. I will check this.
  3. The Drag'n drop helper(the orange arrow) is poor: Yes, you're right. TO does better and more clear for useage than Link Map. thanks for point out that, and I will optimize the interaction.
  4. New Tab doesn't create as the chilld node of its opener: I used to achieve this feature exactly like TO, but I also receive some user's feedback(mostly then haven't used TO). This creation behavior made them confusing. sometimes. So I changed it as what it likes now. I will consider your suggestion and make some changes to fit both user group.
  5. Locate function doesn't active the window on the top: Acutially I know it's not perfectly perform what it mean to be. But in chrome's API, I haven't find a way to engage which window is on the top of screen. I will continue finding a way to make this feature work perfectly.
  6. Make Link Map work in Sidebar: This is exactly what I want to do. You know chrome haven't provide the API to make developer to access the sidebar, but the extension team said they will give the access soon. For the Edge, I haven't take a deep research yet. I will have a look these days, if it could, I will definitely make it.

So when the changes I promised above have released, I will notice you in this issue. Thanks for using Link Map.
