Add "Bitcoin units display" to settings – Allow user to determine how their bitcoin balance is displayed

Open agbegin opened this issue 2 years ago • 0 comments

Currently, bitcoin/sats balances are shown in different ways across applications. Synonym team has recommended the following format: ₿1 000 000. This is explained further on https://satsymbol.org/ and in this bitcoin design community video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyDGfFboHPw

Benefits of this new design: • no commas or decimals, which are used differently around the world • no "sat symbol" like kebab or a lightning bolt or otherwise • Usage is similar to how the dollar sign works... it sits to the left of the amount, regardless of how many units of the currency are shown.

Examples: • 1 sat: ₿1 • 9,999 sats: ₿9 999 • 3.5 bitcoin: ₿350 000 000

Implementation approach: This should not be a full change for all users. Rather, enable it as optional in settings. Need to align to @sandipndev settings work in stream. Settings should be as follows:

Bitcoin units display: • 350,000,000 SAT (default) • ₿350 000 000 • 3.5 BTC
