Internal microphone no longer works in 2.0 on Bay Trail

Open ghost opened this issue 8 years ago • 13 comments

The microphone does not work correctly on GNAWTY on GalliumOS 2.0.

Reproducing is simple, simply enable audio loopback with pactl load-module module-loopback, and you will not hear the audio from the microphone.

I was able to get it working correctly after some messing around with alsamixer, but it went away after a reboot, and reproducing those results seemed really random and inconsistent.

This is with RW_LEGACY firmware right? I wonder if it's the same problem as #180.

Dear developers, my internal microphone (HP chromebook kip with Seabios from mattDevo stopped working when i left chrome os.. it never worked so far.. but because the internal speakers work fine with gallium i thought it might also help with the internal microphone.)

i just tried a usb webcam and even though i can record my voicce with the microphone of the webcam its extremely poor

Adding that my ISO install on ORCO w/ MattDevo RW_LEGACY does not detect a microphone.

It worked on RW_LEGACY in 1.0. I have recently installed full firmware and I will test it out in a bit.

@ColtonDRG Is this working for you on GNAWTY? Are you still running full firmware, and kernel 4.4.6? Speakers work, but no mic?

Having the same mic issue on GNAWTY running BOOT_STUB firmware @ColtonDRG any chance you could tell us what you did with alsamixer?

Can also confirm this issue on Toshiba Chromebook 2 CB30-B-103 (SWANKY, Bay Trail), RW_Legacy and John Lewis firmware

@jmaris I've since then got it to work and successfully recorded from my GNAWTY by fiddling with Pulse Audio Volume Control. Go to the configuration tab and try different 'profile' combinations. Mind you, the process will have to be repeated if you plug an HDMI or headphone jack which makes it really unpractical. Hope this helps.

@Sanglierdomestique I tried fiddling but still couldn't get it working :( I'm going to try and run the full firmware instead of just RW_LEGACY

On SWANKY with an older version of MrChromebox's RW_Legacy I need to do the following steps every time it wakes from sleep/power off.

  • Open Volume Control
  • Go to the Configuration tab
  • On byt-max98090 change the Profile to Off
  • Change to the Input Devices tab, wait until the volume bar gets displayed for Monitor of Dummy Output
  • Change back to Configuration, change byt-max98090 to Analog Stereo Input (Unplugged)
  • Change back to the Input Devices tab, you should see the volume bar working correctly in there.
  • Change back to Configuration, change byt-max98090 to Analog Stereo Duplex
