Invalid Error Message Stating "No Internet Connection"

I can leave the Weather app in the background for 5 minutes, come back to make it a foreground tab in Chrome, and it thinks that I don't have an internet connection. But I do.

I didn't see this as an open report anywhere so thought I'd do it myself. This is my first time reporting so be gentle if I've made a mistake. :)

I have this same issue -- I leave FluentWeather v1.5.0 running all the time, and more often than not, I get the (invalid) "No internet connection" message when I show its window. I'm running Win11 23H2.

I have a fiber connection and I know it's not dropping because I use VDI for work, and if my connection were to drop for even a moment, VDI would, too (it sucks that way).

The same issue in v1.5.0 with newly installed, need to fix it.

Does this happen only when connected to the internet via Ethernet? Does it happen if you connect via WiFi?

Hi, I was using my ethernet connection.

In fact, that's a very good question so I have reinstalled it again as I had uninstalled it. I'm going to check again using ethernet first. Then I'll unplug my cat5 and go entirely onto wifi and see what happens. I'll give you an update when I've completed it.

By the way, the "No Internet Connection" error message only appears when the request actually fails, could you check if your firewall is in some way interfering with the app?

Gabboxl avatar May 04 '25 11:05 Gabboxl

Thank you for the update. I almost left you a followup message 2 days ago but Microsoft sent me an updated Beta of Windows 11 and ever since your FluentWeather has been working perfectly. It was a Microsoft issue that's obviously been fixed.

Great, thanks for the update, Gregg! I will close the issue now. Feel free to reopen if you reencounter this error.

Gabboxl avatar May 04 '25 13:05 Gabboxl

I don't have the ability to reopen the issue, but I'm still seeing the error message. It seems like it happens less often, but it does still happen.

Are you using Ethernet? What Windows version and build are you using?

Gabboxl avatar May 08 '25 19:05 Gabboxl

Yes, Ethernet, on Win11 23H2. I'm still on 23H2 because 24H2 had serious issues. That was some months ago, though.

Can you try using WiFi instead, and let me know if you still get the connection error?

Not really as I'm on a hard-wired desktop PC.

Alright, do you have a proxy set up on your system?

Gabboxl avatar May 12 '25 05:05 Gabboxl

I do not have a proxy set up.

I can't reproduce your issue, unfortunately. The error "No internet connection" pops up only if the HTTP requests actually fails. At the moment, I would say it is an issue specific to your computer. I'm sorry I can't help any further

Gabboxl avatar May 25 '25 14:05 Gabboxl

Yeah, it's sporadic. I can't figure out what triggers it. I've also updated to 24H2 and still get it.

But it seems that if the app simply retried rather than putting up that dialog, the HTTP request would work.
