Manage outgoing notification details

gsconnect 19

Desktop computer is shared among several people. I may be nearby the desktop computer (along with my android device) when someone else is using the desktop Ubuntu computer, and while KDE Connect and GSConnect are both running.

If my android device should receive a text message in these circumstances, the gnome shell panel on the desktop computer will show the text message in the list of notifications, thus allowing that other person to read my received text messages.

Is there a way to control the level of detail of information in notifications that come from the android device to the desktop computer? Or, is my only option to toggle off the notifications in the plugin setting in KDE Connect on my android device?

There is no setting for this in GSConnect. There is an upstream patch somewhere to configure privacy settings for Android waiting for review, but I can't find where it is offhand.

There's no plans to add this feature in GSConnect currently, although the reverse may be at some point (eg. privacy for outgoing notifications).

Maybe by redacting the content of the notification shown on the desktop? This could be pretty much basic. But as the README, you should not have KDEConnect and GSConnect at the same time running on the same machine. And at least, just stop GSConnect in the quick settings panel when this person is using the PC, or even create this user a separate account.
