'Instruction Tracing' greyed out on 760M/Linux/Vulkan/AMDVLK
Hi, I'm trying to capture profiles and do instruction tracing on my system, but it's greyed out. I'm using Radeon GPU Profiler V2.3.0.20 (the 2024-09-26 release).
Vulkan info: http://vulkan.gpuinfo.org/displayreport.php?id=35906
System info:
Would you be able to provide a little more info here? Is the option to enable Instruction timing disabled in Radeon Developer Panel when you try to capture an RGP profile? Or are you able to enable it, but the Instruction timing UI is disabled when you load the capture in Radeon GPU Profiler? If you are able to capture the data, but the RGP UI is disabled, could you share an .rgp file, so we can investigate?

No that's enabled as far as I'm aware:

Yep, that's correct. I can open 'Instruction timing' on the sample profile just file. Here's a capture: voxviewer-20250112-072027.rgp.zip
is there any explanation absolutely anywhere for how this is supposed to work? like why do i need vulkan/opencl for hip native programs?
@expenses did you manage to find a solution? I'm encountering the same problem on the same hardware.
Dropping a note here for future people: the solution was to run RadeonDeveloperPanel as root
