Split track using time OR distance

As of the current version 1.6.0, it is possible to combine the "sdistance" and "split" options using a logical AND. From the documentation:

The track then will be split only if both time and distance interval exceeds the supplied values

How about adding an option to use time OR distance to split up tracks? So that a new segment will be started when either the distance or the time threshold between adjacent points is exceeded. This might come handy sometimes.
