Customizing the main menu options

JBrowse lacks any native support for customizing the main menu options above the genome browser pane—an example includes the inability for end-users to [easily] customize the “Help” menu in JBrowse. This particular issue has been previously discussed in a certain JBrowse GitHub thread, but no responder to that thread reported a completely functional solution. As described by Colin, “this placeholder approach is fairly awkward”.
