How can I hide navigation items from visitors who do not belong to a group?

I assumed this was possible because the description for UAM says,

"Hide elements in the navigation"

I have the same problem. Users are able to see all articles on the Website-Overview and a "Sorry you have no rights to view this entry!" when they have no access right. I would love to exclude all articles (navigation links) for users which are not in the needed groups.

The should disappear if you choose to hide contents completely.
