"ERROR Could not create WNBD disk."

Open drcorg opened this issue 1 year ago • 16 comments

Following the NBD setup guide, the server in OPL is running and the driver installs successfully but I can never get it to actually mount. I get the error message libwnbd.dll!WnbdIoctlCreate ERROR Could not create WNBD disk. Error: 1225. Error message: The remote computer refused the network connection. Any help would be appreciated.

I forgot to add I'm on Windows 11 and the latest release.

Hey, I'm not sure but I've never used the nbd server but maybe windows defender is blocking the connection maybe? Or the firewall?

I know it works because someone recently used it with it PSX

windows 11 might be the issue...

I made it work on win10 with secure boot disabled

Secure boot is off and even with firewall and defender disabled, still no dice... Just to be clear do I have to make any edits in the network settings of OPL or should I leave them on their defaults?

You must specify the ip address of your PS2 on OPL so that it can recognize it

By default I think it's 192.168.0.10

However, it may 'another device on your local network also uses this ip address so change that of the PS2 for example to 192.168.0.20

Sadly even with another ip address the problem persists. I suspect it's a windows 11 thing because I get the same error on another win11 system. I'll stick to transferring manually for now.

I'm getting a similar error @drcorg - wondering if you ever found a fix for it...

libwnbd.dll!WnbdIoctlCreate ERROR Could not create WNBD disk. Error: 87. Error message: The parameter is incorrect.

Edit: Also on Win 11, running OPL v1.2.0-Beta-2048-17efb4

Try reinstalling the dokan driver https://github.com/dokan-dev/dokany/releases

btw, the IP OPL show can be wrong, don't believe it !

Friends, I'm going to tell you how to solve this problem. 3 and 4 points only if the previous ones do not help.

  1. You need to use a static IP address in the OPL settings and in Windows.
  2. Use OPL 1.1.0 https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/releases/download/v1.1.0/OPNPS2LD-v1.1.0.7z
  3. Disabling Secure Boot in any way (I use Bios)
  4. Disable the Firewall and Windows Defender.

The slightest deviations from the points lead to mistakes!!! P.S. Noticed a small nuance: When the console is idle in an inactive state and NBD is turned on, the connection time is limited (about ~ 3 minutes). I will be glad if I helped someone.

If anyone with a 1TB or 2TB hard drive is using NBD, can you tell me if it takes a long time to create the cache when starting PFS Batchkit Manager?

GDX-X avatar Feb 26 '24 11:02 GDX-X

I use a 2TB HDD. It takes from 10 to 20 seconds to create a cache.

Thanks! Someone told me it takes over 10 minutes to create the cache with NBD, which I find strange, probably a firewall or other program doing this to it.

I use a 2TB HDD. It takes from 10 to 20 seconds to create a cache.

Do you have a lot of games on it?
