@bwhacks i'm not sure if android 7 is able to use memfd or what the minimum android version that supports ashmem is, i have been looking into this recently but...
@bwhacks i think that depends on wheter or not anbox can use memfd. as if it can, then the maintainer should update it to use it. if anbox cannot then...
ah i see that kind of makes sense to avoid possibility 3, but i feel like i am qualified to make that call @bwhacks let me try and tag more...
@necessarily-equal @morphis any thoughts on this?
@SoulInfernoDE the issue is anbox was conceived before project treble and all the other work on getting android to work on mainline linux and easier to upgrade, it is stuck...
@necessarily-equal would be possible for anbox to use memfd instead of ashmem? tho i suppose that requires at least a rebuild of the android image 🤔
> I think Anbox would need upgrading Android before supporting memfd :-/ oof that's gonna take quite a bit of effort, given nobody succeeded yet :/
@MinGW32-2006 'have to update' and actually updating is a good example of 'easier said than done'
cool, you guys are awesome for getting it to work, maybe a PR on https://github.com/anbox/anbox-modules could help address #2042
