Reverse geocoding: working?

Open Frank071 opened this issue 3 months ago • 4 comments

OS & Hardware AlmaLinux 8.10 on AMD A8-3820 (Photon on Synology)

Version 0.30.12 (dockerized)

Describe the bug As far as I can tell, the reverse geocoding works... however I do not see much result of it. As in https://github.com/Freika/dawarich/issues/1281, the suggested places are all "Suggested Place", even 24h later. When viewing the suggestion on the map, the result of the geocoding is shown in the dropdown box. The points are shown as coordinates only and in the balloon that you see when you click on a point on the map, there is no geocoding information either. Am I missing something? Also, when looking at the Stats, I see there are 220,976 geopoints "tracked", but 220,879 geocoded. 97 are not, but why is unclear (and it does not change when I ask to process remaining points).

To Reproduce N/A

Expected behavior Name suggested places by their geo information, show geo information in balloon and elsewhere

Apologies for if I have understood this functionality the wrong way.

It's the expected behaviour, reverse geocoding is only being used for stats and visits suggestion. Although place names should be updated, so I'll look into it

I came here with a similar issue. It would be extremely useful to have the geolocation on the map.

Can you describe what precisely you would expect?

Can you describe what precisely you would expect?

Sure. So on the old Google Timeline, it was all linked in with Google Maps data, so it was very handy for reviewing trips. The timeline part had the name of the places you visited listed, and it appeared when you hovered the cursor over them on the map too.

The way Dawarich works, you can see a diagram of your movements and places where you stopped for a while, but no hint as to what you did there. It would be great if it showed the name of the place you visited.
