Snap Package for Ubuntu App Store
Describe the solution you'd like to see implemented
Please publish snap package on the Snapcraft ubuntu app store (see Snapcraft) which is a really popular store and if users can only get it through Flatpark that does not help democratize privacy.
Describe alternatives you've considered Building from source is not ideal.
That'd be awesome!
I want give my 2 cents here, and share a few links in case it helps anyone looking into this:
I'm a complete Electron newbie but electron-builder has snap support, which seems like at least a time saver if not a quick win:
I did a few other searches in the hope of helping anyone that is looking to get started:
- https://snapcraft.io/docs/electron-apps
- https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/electron-kiosk
On another note:
Building from source is not ideal.
You can get the daily build from GitHub Actions if you are logged in to GitHub, no need to build yourself if that's the problem. just click on the latest run and look for the artifact you want, for example: https://github.com/FreeTubeApp/FreeTube/actions/runs/827517054:

That said, its not ideal for testing, and we cant expect users to go that route if they want to test the latest version, so a snap would be handy. Specially if we can get the nightly-build there as a channel... it would speed things up for testers, and get the new versions of the application quicker to users, and avoid users bumping into old and resolved bugs.
Would also love a snap version.
@pallebone i have started providing snap packages, get the snap from here --:
Thanks, just installed and ready for when I get home!
Kind regards,
