Problem Description
Right now, FreeTube doesn't show a video preview when hovering over thumbnails. On platforms like YouTube, this helps users quickly get a feel for the video without needing to click into it. Without this, browsing feels a bit slower and less intuitive.
Proposed Solution
Add a simple video preview that plays a short, silent clip for like 15 seconds when hovering over a video thumbnail . This would make browsing faster and help user decide what to watch more easily and help them avoid clickbait
Alternatives Considered
Static thumbnails or preview images, but they don’t give as much context as a quick video snippet.

+1 for this feature request.
I would hope something like this would be possible without actually fetching a video stream, since Google seems to be upping their game when it comes to rate limiting and IP banning lately. This would likely increase the chances of this unless a workaround is found.
If implemented, this must be configurable. Being annoyed at youtube doing this is one of the main reasons I switched to using freetube in the first place. I don't want to have to pay attention to where I leave my mouse lest distracting animations start playing.
We wont be implementing this
